Josef married Mariana Neckáiová in 1853 from #80 in Tichá, and the couple lived in House #175 Tichá. They had four children before Mariana died in 1871 (including a son Josef born in 1860). Josef then married a second wife in 1871 (Anna Sablaturova, b 1838 in Trojanovice, Moravia). Josef and Anna immigrated to Texas in 1873 with their eight children and settled in Burleson County. We visited Tichá in 2014 and visited with the current owner of #175, a Mr. Cervenka. He gave us a picture of #175 as it appeared in1935. They range from Heusler, to Heysler, then Hajzler, and then finally Haisler when hte gggf immigrated from Horni Cermna to Texas in 1876. The early ones, going back to ~1540, I don't have real documentation for (I only have what has been passed down to me by previous family and friends). It's not until late 1700s that I have the real birth and marriage records. When I started working in FTM, I initially used Haisler because I figured no one would understand the old variations of the surname but about 10 years ago I changed and recorded what the real names were. When we went to CR in 2015, and I put my grubby hands and eyeballs on the real books, then using the real names became more important to me (for various reasons). I'm now starting to use the online archives to get the digital copies. I also use the CR place names with diacritical marks as I find them in various records. I think the most acceptable solution in their culture to a premarital pregnancy was for the parents to get married. The"incest"makes this somewhat awkward, but assuming these are good priests who want to help I can definitely see them pushing for it. I imagine this type of situation is precisely what these dispensation exceptions were designed for.Dannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01626205881221539056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-576813717291116657.post-48778918505530973952017-08-09T14:32:33.420-05:002017-08-09T14:32:33.420-05:00Thanks this is just what I needed! Thanks this is just what I needed!Renee Schmidthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07701041164505920615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-576813717291116657.post-46328103839274959222017-07-27T19:53:23.197-05:002017-07-27T19:53:23.197-05:00I too feel like I've just touched the tip of t...I too feel like I've just touched the tip of the iceberg in my understanding of my Czech heritage. I am so thankful that last year I was able to visit to The Wallachian Open Air Museum in Roznov, Moravia, Czech Republic. It was an excellent hands-on experience in learning about my ancestors' daily lives - I could actually visualize parts of their lives. The Frenstat museum was also very informative with its displays.
As for the history, I try to digest it in small pieces.

Linda Texas Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00547037404676565726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-576813717291116657.post-52670778020540370102017-07-27T10:20:51.656-05:002017-07-27T10:20:51.656-05:00Error in previous post.

I wonder about the affect of the local politics on my ancestors.
I often think of my ancestors and wonder about their day to day life. I think about odd things like them making kraut and what their kraut crocks looked like. I wonder about their 11 or so acres (as chalupers) and the sowing of seeds, weeding, watering, and harvesting. I wonder about their ducks and geese and the feeding and housing of their animals. I wonder about their clothing, especially their shoes. I wonder about going to church services. I wonder about the local government and the taxes paid by 30% of their crops. (grow 100 cabbages, give 30 for taxes) I wonder about how my ancestors participated in religious struggles. They were evangelists, not Catholics. I wonder about their home. Did they always have dirt floors? (they left in 1874) Lots of wondering about their day to day life.Ritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13764379862617396667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-576813717291116657.post-20687378782178516242017-07-27T10:18:34.806-05:002017-07-27T10:18:34.806-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13764379862617396667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-576813717291116657.post-89324388921618513662017-06-11T17:46:52.209-05:002017-06-11T17:46:52.209-05:00Fascinating answers, Kate!Fascinating answers, Kate!Joe Vasicekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16099097853081854176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-576813717291116657.post-8975065801444175812017-06-08T17:58:21.922-05:002017-06-08T17:58:21.922-05:00Kate from 2013, it's okay. She wrote it when she was 80 years old about her experiences which is called Jozova Hanule. this village depicted in the movie reminds me of villages I have been to in the Czech Republic. I believe during this time period the villagers would have done everything to survive and not to bring attention of the Gestapo. My grandmother would always say that they were waiting for the Soviets army as liberators and fortunately she did not experience the violence in the movie but that did happen but did have to hide her bike, clocks, mirrors and anything of value in the hay loft so the Russians would not steal them. I am a genealogy neophyte, but here's what I found that the Church/FamilySearch recommend as standards for submitting names to the temple: "Before submitting a name to the temple, be sure to double-check and use reliable sources to document that the information about this person is accurate." (https://familysearch.org/blog/en/3-easy-steps-performing-temple-ordinances-ancestors/).

Obviously, it's not enforced and probably not followed by many, but at least there is a standard that is supposed to be followed.William D. I am retired and now I spend many, many hours working on my families genealogy. Began thirty years ago, in Texas History in college. I am the only one in my family interested in it.
